Today is Thursday, and as I sit down to enjoy my daily smoothie and supplements, I find my weekly “Take 5 with Mel” email, written by Mel Robbins. I love Mel Robbins! She’s an inspiration to so many of us … saying it like it is with no sugar-coating. I’ve been following her for several years now, and today she shared something that I totally resonate with that has become part of my Collective Balance protocol … SELF CARE.
Personally I have found that when I CONSISTENTLY practice self care, I can conquer my day with ease and grace. I have also found the same to be true with my clients, many of whom are busy moms. Those who practice self care know the importance of putting on their life jacket first before assisting others.
For me, self care looks something like waking before the sun rises, walking the dog to enjoy nature, prayer time, and exercise. When I do this consistently, I feel amazing! I then have the energy to focus on my clients and their needs. This is one of the reasons why I schedule clients 12pm-6pm, so that I have the morning to focus on ME.
For my clients, many of their self care looks something like this … Mondays Paddle, Tuesdays Pilates, Wednesday Bible Study, and Thursdays Massage. They spend a little time each day focusing on themselves so that they can be present to their children, to their spouse, to their occupation.
Many clients first come to me because of a physical pain and we jump in with orthopedic massage therapy. However as we become acquainted, we realize the client is neglecting self care. We have found that as the client takes on responsibility for her own self care, she begins to feel fabulous!
Be sure to take a look at Mel’s 16 Ways to Practice Self Care, and share your favorite self care tip in the comments below. If after reading Mel’s article, you are ready to learn how Orthopedic Massage Therapy can fit into your self care routine, then I invite you to call or text me at 412-760-1776 to discuss your goals and to determine if we are a good fit for working together.
